Home At Last

After a super busy weekend, we are finally home and relaxing. And, it's only...9:09 Sunday night. Here's a review of how it all went (the good and extremely bad too):

Friday: Morning started out half hour late, of course. We pack up all the junk that goes along with going anywhere overnight with kids, and then remember to put the girls in the van as well, only to find out we have a low tire. Oh, joy. We stop at my parent's house to blow it up. A couple miles later we notice the tire has lost most of its air already. We made it to Hampton and spent half an hour driving around trying to find anyone who would fix our tire. Get the tire fixed. Now we are running two hours late, that's all. We get into Minneapolis and go West instead of East. Awesome. Because the traffic headed East was standing perfectly still. After driving around finding our friend's hotel (she rode with us and had no address of the place), we arrive at our hotel. We have minimal time to change and book it to the wedding on the clear other side of the city. Ah crap, I have forgotten the girls' clothes. So, I run to the mall (when it's the Mall of America, a "run" is soooo not a run) and pick up some new outfits. On our way to the wedding we go. And of course when we are to veer to the right, we veer to the left. And BOOM, we are in downtown, scary, may I even say ghetto? Minneapolis. And, for the first time in our lives, we were twenty minutes to a wedding. Weddings and funerals are two things you shouldn't be late for, just so you know!!! :) But the wedding was just awesome!!! We were so excited to see some great college friends we miss and spend the evening catching up. And Maleah had a hoot dancing. It was great! To bed at midnight.

Saturday: Wake up and eat some delicious Embassy Suites breakfast. Quick trip to Ikea, a must when in the city. Headed back to unpack Chris & Alisa into their new home in Grundy Center. Then it's home to unpack ourselves and get ready for our open house Sunday. To bed too late.

Sunday: Sleep in, hallelujah! Head to church and notice the sky's looking awfully black. During the service they had us all go to the basement. Since last year's tornado, storms is something we don't take lightly. In other words, I'm in a panic every time I hear the word severe. Church ended up being dismissed, so we headed directly back home to clean up, again, for our open house. Another storm on the way home, scariness. And when we got home we see that our house signs blew away. So...all that sweating for nothing! Nobody even knew our house was for sale or that we were planning to have an open house. BUT, we had small group tonight at our home (because we weren't busy enough this weekend) and it was great! 9:18. Thinking about going to bed.

Another busy, but absolutley wonderful weekend! Hope your's was great too!

Hello!

I am officially entering the world of blogging. After going out with some girlfriends last night & discussing the fun of blogs, I am finally caving in & creating one for our family.

Mostly I am doing this for ourselves (sorry!). Of course for your entertainment, as well. But this is serving as my journal. I hope my children will love to look back at these precious years of their lives and see the joys and laughter we shared all being home together. Although many days don't seem all that joyful, I hit the pillow every night thanking God for the wonderful blessings of the day. This is the place I want to share the bliss and frustrations. I invite you to share them with me as well.

For now, I must go pick up all the granola Maleah just spilled on my freshly vacuumed carpet, change two poopy diapers, pick up the toys for the umpteenth time, then go have some fun (and lots of worrying) at the pool together. Like I said, joy. Pure joy.
